We were extremely blessed to have Ben Armstrong join us from 8-11 June, along with his wife Heather and a few members of his team, to speak and minister to us at our Prophetic Development conference and our Salt & Light Advance Sphere celebration. Ben is the Overseer of Prophetic Ministry at Bethel Church in Redding, California in the USA, and is gifted prophetically, including in the area of dreams. Ben spoke to us about the foundations of prophecy, focusing particularly on the father heart of the prophetic. He explained that at its heart prophecy is not about pointing out all the things that are wrong with someone, but directing them into their true identity which is found in Jesus. He also spoke about courage, strength and comfort; perseverance; and worship and intimacy with God. I was really challenged by the reminder that even big moves of God start small,…

“I feel like I have been completely rewritten. God has broken off lies that I was believing about myself, which had accumulated over many years, and which were keeping me anxious and silent. School of the Spirit gave space for God to put His finger on them and say “That wasn’t me. That’s not who I made you to be” and replace it with truth about how He sees me instead. The person I was before is unrecognisable now. I’ve gone from believing I was never going to be good enough to standing firm in the one who made me good enough; from being silent to having a voice. I can’t thank Him enough for that.” School of the Spirit participant School of the Spirit is a six-month course, designed to help us live more like Jesus – secure in our identity, filled with his power, and carrying the Kingdom…

Russ and Rebecca Beese Russ Beese will be stepping down as pastor of Witney Community Church in June, following a series of prophetic words about a change of role for him and Rebecca. We have really appreciated Russ’ pastoral heart and Rebecca’s musical gifting, and we have been honoured to have them lead for the past several years. We are thankful for the way the church has grown under their leadership, and we pray for God’s guiding hand to be upon them as they enter this new season. Michael and Kate Ivey Michael Ivey will be departing from his role as pastor at Abingdon Community Church in June, as God is leading him into a new role in the US. We have been grateful for Michael and Kate leading the Abingdon church over the last few years and we have all been blessed by Michael’s prophetic gifting. We pray that…

An update from Steve Jones, pastor of Oxford Community Church, about the work that he is currently involved with in the city of Oxford. About 15 years ago, Oxford Community Church received an inspiring word about the church becoming ‘a rudder to the city.’ In the last few years, we’ve learnt more about how to do that, and have pioneered Renew Oxford events (renewoxford.org) as a way of galvanising the city’s churches to make their best contribution to the city of Oxford. Then, more personally, as I’ve handed over some responsibilities in the last 6 months, I’ve had a bit more time to pursue these things, and that has led to some pleasing developments: A group of 15 Oxford churches have now formed a partnership with the charity, Safe Families, to serve the city’s most vulnerable children. Fresh energy is being put into mapping all of Oxford churches, which has…

We had a great time at our Salt & Light Advance Thrive gathering on 16-17 February learning about thriving in all that God has for us. It was great to be joined by a variety of guest speakers, including Joemon Joseph, who is the new leader of Salt & Light International, as well as some more familiar faces. God spoke powerfully to us about being an intergenerational family, and about renewed intimacy with him, leading to a fresh sense of unity across our churches and fresh fruit. If you want to catch up or listen again, the links to the recordings can be found here, and a blog post from Rich Ellwood reflecting on the event can be found here.

There have been a number of team changes over the last few months which we would like to honour. Salt & Light Advance Steve and Bev Jones have stepped down from leading the Salt & Light Advance team, and we are very blessed to welcome Rich and Anna Ellwood as the new Team Leaders. Oxfordshire Community Churches Steve has also stepped back from his position as OCC Chair of Trustees, and we are grateful to have Peter Allen step up into this role. Oxford Community Church Oxford Community Church has welcomed Bec Quinnell as their new Admin Assistant. They are also issuing a fond farewell to Andrew Clark, who is leaving his role after many years. Over the years, Andrew has held many roles in the charity and we are grateful for everything he has done. He has written a blog post about the next stages of his journey, which…

TKC Open House On 14 December the Charity Hub, Oxford Community Church, The King’s Centre Ltd and Edge Housing worked together to host an Open House event at The King’s Centre. We enjoyed connecting with a range of supporters, church members and local businesses over mince pies and festive punch brewed with Edge Housing apple juice, and thought it was a great first gathering. We also held a raffle to fundraise for Edge and raised over £500. Thank you to everyone who attended, and especially to everyone who bought raffle tickets or donated prizes! Monster Turkey We had a great time at Monster Turkey, our annual Advance Sphere youth event, on 15-16 December. This year not only had the usual inflatables and tuck, but also saw the return of overnight for those in Y10 and above, with some great games such as Among Us in real life and a giant…

Steve Thomas shares an update on the work that he and his team have been doing over the last few months, following the prompting of the Holy Spirit to increase mission into Europe. It was at the back end of 2022, and early in 2023, that a number of European leaders felt that God was speaking to us about a fresh thrust into the continent of Europe. We have been working in Europe since the early 2000s, and have seen a number of churches planted, adopted and working together in family in the French-speaking countries and in Scandinavia. It was clear just about a year ago that God was speaking afresh about many other nations in Europe, and that it was time to be much more intentional about this development. Lorraine and I were asked to lead a new team with a fresh thrust into nations where God was opening…

On Sunday 19 November Cheltenham Church Plant had their second official public meeting. Following some last-minute venue challenges, the previous meeting in October had not received any non-OCC visitors; however this time they had an exciting 9 visitors, some of whom were non-Christians. There were 30 attendees in total – 24 adults and 4 children, including some guests from the wider church family. Anna Ellwood, Angie Robertson and George Meathrel led worship, and Rich Ellwood spoke on the stories of the persistent widow and the blind man in Luke 18. There was a clear lead from the Holy Spirit towards a response for salvation and God welcoming everyone to come close into his presence through some great prophetic words. Lottie Meathrel brought a word about God having an undeserved gift for each of us, Alan Jenkins from Chipping Norton brought some verses from the story of the prodigal son, and…
