Over the past 4 years God has been revealing his plan for our church and so we are trying to follow his lead and step into his vision for us.

Firstly God called us to lift our eyes from our feet to the horizon – encouraging us to focus on what is outside the church as much as what is inside, a call for the whole church to move towards a horizon of Spirit and Salvation.

Secondly he spoke about becoming an Apostolic hub and thirdly to look to the towns and villages to the west of Carterton. Through much prayer and discussion this culminated in a new vision for the church of becoming a spiritual home and an equipping base for Carterton and the east Cotswolds.

As we discussed this as leaders and shared the vision with the church we felt like our name, Carterton Community Church, didn’t really fit with this new vision, in particular the apostolic nature of the vision. So through more prayer and discussion we have become Horizon Church. Our hope is that this new name is a prophetic statement that we will become an equipping base, an apostolic hub. That it will continue to remind us of the vision God has given us and helps us to keep our vision on the horizon and it will tell those around us that something has changed in this church.
