TKC Open House
On 14 December the Charity Hub, Oxford Community Church, The King’s Centre Ltd and Edge Housing worked together to host an Open House event at The King’s Centre. We enjoyed connecting with a range of supporters, church members and local businesses over mince pies and festive punch brewed with Edge Housing apple juice, and thought it was a great first gathering. We also held a raffle to fundraise for Edge and raised over £500. Thank you to everyone who attended, and especially to everyone who bought raffle tickets or donated prizes!
Monster Turkey
We had a great time at Monster Turkey, our annual Advance Sphere youth event, on 15-16 December. This year not only had the usual inflatables and tuck, but also saw the return of overnight for those in Y10 and above, with some great games such as Among Us in real life and a giant lightsabre fight. It also included a short gospel message. We had 230 young people attend, which is an incredible increase in numbers on last year!
Carterton Community Church
Carterton Community Church’s “Carols in the Square” event on Christmas Eve was a resounding success, drawing in 350-400 of our community plus some welcome interlopers from the surrounding area! Matt Pearson did a superb job of sharing the gospel on this year’s theme, “Pause Christmas for Jesus,” encapsulating the true reason for the season. After John’s dreadful Christmas Pun Run the band then took the stage, leading the enthusiastic crowd in a medley of classic carols. A standout moment was the rendition of ‘Deck the Halls,’ set to ‘Eye of the Tiger’. Despite the challenging weather conditions, Carols in the Square continues to be the best way to start the Christmas festivities.
The King’s School
Our school nativity was a wonderful reminder of the reason for joy with the birth of our wonderful Saviour! From adorable angels and sheep to our talented core cast, the photos capture the magic of this special time.
There was not a dry eye in the house – mostly with laughter. Particularly when the kings asked if they could come in and see Jesus, at which point a little sibling at the back loudly shouted ‘NO’.
A big well done to all the staff, students and parent volunteers involved in this wonderful nativity. Take a peek at some precious moments from the performance!
